Report 2012 2013

On other pages on the website, I have brought up the topic of Annual Reports submitted by the Board of Pardons and Paroles in Connecticut. Here, I will discuss the annual report for the 2012-2013 year. By learning about the findings and trends in this annual report, you can get a better understanding of the pardon process. This will help you as you apply for your own pardon in the state of Connecticut.

Public Service Section

The 2012-2013 annual report has a section called “Public Service.” This section discusses the statistics involved in the pardon applications and cases for the year. In 2012-2013, the Board of Pardons got 983 pardon applications. Out of the 983 received, the Board of Pardons considered 717 of them eligible for review. This means that about 250 pardon applications were ineligible for review. Don’t let your application get added to this number! Make sure that you review the eligibility requirements before you decide to apply for a pardon. Also, talking to a pardon lawyer and making sure that your application will be properly reviewed can save you a lot of time and energy.

Pardon Statistics

In 2012-2013, 333 pardon applications were granted a provisional, conditional, or full pardon. The pardon grant rate for that year was at 46%. As in the previous year, the pardon application rate also increased. It increased by 9% from 2011-2012 to 2012-2013. This shows that the desire for pardons in Connecticut is continuing to grow. This might have an affect on the pardon application process in the coming years. One change might include making the process simpler and more organized. It will be important to make sure that your pardon application stands out because there are so many applications that the Board of Pardons is getting.

In the 2011-2012 year, the Provisional Pardon Certificate was introduced. In 2012-2013, the feedback for this certificate was positive. This certificate format was created based on feedback from pardon recipients. These recipients claimed that reporting convictions on the prior format negatively affected their employment opportunities. It is important to note that people with convictions still have to tell prospective employers about these convictions if asked.

In addition to these changes the Board of Pardons continued to streamline the pardon application process. This will make it easier for pardon applications to get their applications in. The Board of Pardons also now features an expedited pardon, which is an even faster pardon process in the state of Connecticut.

Since the years mentioned here, the pardon grant rate has increased even more. The grant rate is much higher than in the past, so you may have a better chance of obtaining a pardon now than at other times in the past.
