Drug

If you are a juvenile arrested for drug possession or abuse, you will attend a juvenile drug court. While there are many different punishments that you will face based on what exactly you are being charged with, and how many previous offenses you have, you will most likely face some form of probation that will include drug treatment.

This is designed to rehabilitate you and help you conquer a drug addiction in order to get your life back on track. Juvenile Drug Programs are popular because they offer a helpful service to youths while still holding them accountable for their actions.

Rehab

Juvenile drug courts are treatment programs supervised by juvenile courts. This is a service provided to youths that are involved in drugs and their families. Generally if a court orders a drug treatment program, this refers to a drug rehab program. This is usually offered as an alternative to spending time in a correctional or detention facility.

If a judge feels that you will not take the initiative to enter rehab on your own, he or she will order you to attend a rehab program. It is possible that a judge will ask you what form of drug treatment you would like to receive. You can choose to attend a residential treatment program or to be an outpatient at a drug rehab center.

If you decide to attend a residential program, you will have around-the-clock care and other services offered to you. Some of these other services include mental health and primary care treatment. These can also be offered to outpatients, but it is easier to take advantage of them if you live at the treatment center.

Being an Outpatient

On the other hand, if you choose to be an outpatient, you will have more time to spend with family and friends and continue living at home. If you are being ordered to attend a rehab center or a drug treatment program, consider these options and which one you would prefer.

Breaking Probation

Oftentimes in drug related juvenile cases, a drug treatment program will be ordered by the court as a stipulation of probation or time served in a correctional facility. If a minor who is on probation has been ordered to attend a drug treatment program and fails to, this is a serious breach of the rules of probation.

It is possible for a minor who breaks the conditions of his or her probation to spend time in a detention or correctional facility as a form of punishment. As a result, if you receive probation as a result of a juvenile court case, and you are ordered to attend a drug treatment program, it is important to do so in order to avoid violation of probation.

If you are facing a drug arrest as a juvenile, it is important to remember that you will probably be ordered by the court to attend a drug treatment program. While you will probably have some flexibility as to what type of program you want to attend, you should be prepared to commit to your program and take advantage of the services that will be offered to you.
